ABOUT IF NOT NOW, THEN WHEN?

A few weeks into the coronavirus quarantine, I was cleaning out my basement and discovered my great-grandfather's Super 8 camera from 1967. When the Black Lives Matter protests began after the murder of George Floyd, I realized it was a perfect time to put the camera to use.

I decided to make this film to visually show how the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960's was not long ago at all and that many things still need to change in the United States when it comes to equality. As a white man, I also felt like it was my duty to not be silent and to stand up to say something about the systemic racism of this country by using my art. This documentary features an interview from Martin Luther King, Jr. which was recorded in the year 1967: the same year my great-grandfather's camera was made, proving that history isn't just the past, but the present.
